Nintendo has announced a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate livestream hosted by Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai this Wednesday, November 6 at 5 AM PST. The stream will run for about 45 minutes and focus entirely on Terry Bogard, who is the next DLC fighter to join the fray on the Switch.
Terry hails from Fatal Fury, a fighting game series developed and published by SNK. The first game of the series released in 1991; in it, Terry made his first debut as the main character. He was first announced for Ultimate in the September Nintendo Direct, shortly after fan speculation about an SNK-owned fighter character grew due to an SNK copyright message on Nintendo’s UK website. He is the fourth DLC character to join the game since its release last December, but he isn’t the last; an unannounced fifth character is still set to release as part of the first Fighter’s Pass bundle. After that, more DLC characters are expected to be added eventually.
Many expect Terry to be made available for purchase very soon after the stream, as past DLC fighters were. Joker, Hero, and Banjo-Kazooie were all available for players to buy quickly after their respective videos and streams detailing their Smash Bros. abilities. If Terry is to follow this pattern, he should be arriving to Smash Bros. sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, some fans are already speculating about that unannounced fifth character coming to the game after Terry. One leak claimed the final character of the first Fighter’s Pass to be Geno from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, which was the first Mario RPG title. Though Nintendo hasn’t confirmed anything, many are optimistic about the chances of Geno appearing as a fighter after another leak that listed a “Doll” DLC character seemed to predict other characters.
