New RPG Set in a Cyberpunk City, Nivalis Nights, Will Release September 29th

The cyberpunk setting has proven to be a popular backdrop for many games in the past, bringing a contrast of bright lights into the night sky and futuristic technology that feels real to the characters. With video games having the ability to place players directly into those settings, it’s no surprise that an RPG like Nivalis Nights would receive so much attention prior to its release. Today, the game announced its release date and offered a new trailer set in the city itself.

The trailer opens with snow falling on a lively city with flying cars bright signs. The first-person camera reveals lines of shops and citizens going about their day in the streets. According to the Steam page, understanding the city will be critical to success in the game, as players will need to navigate the danger while expanding their influence through restaurants and clubs. They will begin by taking over a noodle bar named Ramen Noir and exploring the city to manage resources and get acquainted with the individuals living there.

In addition to growing their business, players will also be able to access various smaller activities like fishing and listening to stories while wandering the city. These can lead to connections for further business expansion or simple games like chess. The narrator also hints at Aseptic, a dangerous wanted android model whose name is whispered on the streets. The player will also be threatened by recent crackdowns on the city by a group known as CorpSec, making the illegal opportunities in the game more difficult to utilize.

The final moments of the trailer see the narrator asking the main character how the city of Nivalis will remember them, serving as a call to action to make the most of what the cyberpunk setting can offer. Nivalis Nights is set to release on PC on September 29th, 2026.
