Resident Evil 2 owners on PC and fans of Netflix’s show The Witcher can now play as the White Wolf in Capcom’s survival horror remake. In this nonsensical mod, a gun-toting Geralt (who replaces main character Leon) stands out like a sore thumb running around Raccoon City’s police station and fighting bloodthirsty zombies. Unfortunately, even though Geralt’s sword is seen on his back through the entire gameplay, it is not a useable weapon to fight off hoards. However, for die-hard fans, if you want the full experience of playing as Geralt, there is the option of doing the knife only run that the game provides.
The mod was created by Wiwilz, and is the second Witcher based mod for the gaming franchise. The same creator also made a mod that replaces the game character, Claire, with another character from The Witcher. Claire is replaced by fan-favorite Ciri, who also saw it perfectly appropriate to bring her sword along for this zombie-slaying trip (although it still seems to be sheathed on her back as she carries it around in her hands).
Watching the monster slayer not only carry a gun but solve puzzles and interact with modern-day appliances is enough to bring a smile to anyone’s face. Footage of the mod in action is available in the posted video, along with a download for the mod as well. To do so however requires fluffyquack’s mod manager to be previously installed. Another note is that the Geralt mod has moving facial animations and the modder notes that they will be back to update Ciri mod so her mouth moves with her words and expressions.
Resident Evil 2 is a survival horror game made, published, and distributed by Capcom. Released on January 25th, 2019, this remake of the 1998 game was released for and still available on Windows, Playstation, and Xbox One with another game coming in April of 2020.
