New Mixer Create App Allows Mobile Gamers to Broadcast On The Go

Microsoft launched a new app, Mixer Create, that allows mobile gamers to stream content directly from their devices while playing.

Formerly Beam, the standard Mixer utilizes Windows 10 and Xbox one services to stream games on computers and consoles. Users can choose to stream alone or with up to four friends as well, using the Co-Streaming feature. Now, with the Mixer Create app, users can stream from iOS and Android mobile devices. The app had been in the beta testing stages until its release in August 2017.

Mixer states:

“You can now broadcast playing your favorite mobile games directly from your phone – no extra software or equipment needed. On Android, this will work with any game. On iOS, it works with a selection of top games (those that have chosen to enable “ReplayKit” functionality).”

This means once the Mixer Create app is installed, streamers can easily and quickly set-up and deliver live broadcasts for their viewers. Co-Streaming will be enabled as well, still allowing up to four players to stream together while using the app. Although broadcasting without the hassle of connecting to a PC or Xbox One will be convenient, Mixer Create doesn’t allow users to view other content with just the app alone because, “unlike the standard Mixer app, this one isn’t for viewing. Instead, Mixer Create can be used by streamers to broadcast on the go.”

Those who used Mixer prior to the most recent mobile release can also connect their profile to their computers and Xbox One platforms without issue. This allows streamers to use features from the mobile, PC, and console apps simultaneously, such as using their phones to chat while streaming from other devices at the same time.

Mixer Create is available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple app store for Android and iOS devices. Microsoft has not announced if the app will support Windows 10 mobile devices.
