New Information Released for Bugsnax: The First Person Adventure Game Inspired by Ape Escape

Announced earlier this month during the PlayStation 5 games showcaseBugsnax showed off cartoon world full of creatures made from different snack foods. The first look included a trailer with a song performed by Kero Kero Bonito and showed of fuzzy monsters that players will play as while they uncover the mysteries of Snaktooth island. Earlier today, more information about the game was released including multiple new screenshots and information about the story of the game. Bugsnax is set on the mysterious island of Snaktooth where the player’s goal is to collect and study the over 100+ different types of Bugsnax available in order to find a missing person. Thanks to haptic feedback, players will be notified when bugsnax have been caught in traps, and the game will play similarly to the Ape Escape series.

The first person adventure game developed by Young Horses studios, the studio that made Octodad, takes players on a whimsical adventure as they discover more about the legendary half-bug half-snack creatures that live there. According to the game’s official page, players are, “invited by intrepid explorer Elizabert Megafig, you arrive to discover your host nowhere to be found, her camp in shambles, and her followers scattered across the island alone… and hungry.” Players will need to explore the island and trap bugsnax in order to feed the stranded friends of Elizabert and unlock more items that players can customize their characters with.

As players trap more bugsnax and consume them, they will unlock new customization options that they can apply to their characters, though no multiplayer mode has been revealed for the game yet. Bugsnax is set to release in the holiday season of this year, coming to Playstation consoles and the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders can be made now through the game’s official website, along with new screenshots and information for the game.
