New Gameplay Footage & Details Revealed For Resident Evil Village DLC & Resident Evil 4

Capcom shared new footage and details during the most recent Resident Evil showcase. The showcase focused on the upcoming Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, its upcoming Winters’ expansion and the first look at the remake for Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is a bundle of the base game and the upcoming Winters’ expansion DLC featuring a third-person mode, “The Mercenaries Additional Orders,” and “Shadows of Rose,” a new narrative DLC following the story of Ethan Winter’s daughter Rosemary set 16 years after the main campaign.

Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayshi shared the first official look at the Resident Evil 4 remake that was announced during the last PlayStation State of Play. The footage showcased an extended gameplay segment for the opening minutes of the game, plus a new story trailer foreshadowing the surprises waiting for new players and returning fans. The footage highlights how the developers are introducing modern design techniques and state-of-the-art graphics to both faithfully recreate and add depth to the original game’s visions. Players also got to see some of the new ways Ganados attack, chase, and outflank Leon with staggering speed and ferocity. A newly added parry and the ability to finish enemies with the knife highlight the razor-thin line between survival and a grim fate.

Hirabayashi also talked and showed how the developers are recreating fan-favorite characters and game mechanics and providing more meaningful player choices. The Merchant returns with good gear to sell Leon, including items and weapon upgrades. Players can also search for rare gems and exchange them for more exclusive rewards. The attache case also returns and places an emphasis on intelligent resource management. The case also allows players to synthesize healing items and ammunition.
