New Fortnite Patch Introduces New Weapons, 4K Support, and General Gameplay Improvements

Fortnite, the popular battle royale game, and zombie horde shooter, just got whole lot better with the V.1.9.1 update. The new update introduced new weapons for the Save the World mode, a smoke grenade for Battle Royale, 4K support for the Xbox One X, general changes to both Fortnite game modes, and much more!

Save the World mode, the original game mode that has players collecting loot and resources in the day to defeat zombies at night, has received a hefty amount of updates. With the seasonal event, Fortnitemares, winding down, Fortnite will once again feature the event, mutant storms. This event was added for a short time back in August, and it has now made a comeback. These storms appear throughout the co-op world of Fortnite, and can be either buff players or enemies. Players who endure these storms will earn storm tickets, and these can be used to purchase event llamas to unlock nine new Vindertech-brand weapons. These weapons include the Pulsar, Burster, Blazer, Disintegrator, Jolter, Blaster, Slammer, Sever, and Slicer. Storm events will only produce tickets 10 times a day.

Battle Royale mode has also received some love from the developers. The smoke grenade has been added into the mode, and it will allow players to obscure the vision of other players, and it can be found on random floor spawns and in all container types. Also, leaderboards for Fortnite Battle Royale have been added. The global wins leaderboard will highlight the top 50 players for the selected match type and is measured by wins. The score leaderboard will also feature a top 50 list, but it will instead feature the top players with the most experience gained. As well as this, medium ammo stacks have been increased to 14 in the duo playlist, and to 18 in the squad playlist. And the most important update, as seen in many popular videos recently, rocket riding will now be a mechanic to stay.

In addition, Fortnite now officially supports 4K on the Xbox One X. These graphical improvements are comparable to the PC version’s “Epic” quality of graphics. Better-quality reflections, higher quality post processes, anti-aliasing, depth of field, greater draw distances, more detailed foliage, higher resolution textures and shadows and more have all been added for high-end graphical enjoyment.

Finally, a few other bug and UI fixes have been implemented, as well as a few performance and stability fixes. Additionally, all Fortnitemares re-skins have been reset back to their default look.

The V.1.9.1 update is now live for all players.
