During EA’s Play stream and games showcase on June 18th, Bioware teased what appears to be a new title in the Dragon Age series. Bioware showed off only a brief glimpse of the newest title, showing only a few different images of some of the areas of the game to show off some of the processing power of the next generation of PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The shots include a look at what appears to be a ruined castle, surrounded by red lyrium seen from previous Dragon Age titles. The red lyrium is also reminiscent of the red blight seen in the Dragon Age: Dread Wolf Rises teaser trailer from 2018, but no other obvious connections seem to jump out from the screenshots. While there has been no announcement for the game’s title or release date, the teaser images shown off during the collage were certainly set in the world of Dragon Age, and development of a new title has been rumored for some time.

Despite any actual announcements for the next iteration in the Dragon Age series, the latest leaked images, and trailers from 2018 hint at the fact that a new title is slated for release with next-gen consoles. During the EA games showcase Laura Miele, EA’s chief studio officer talked about EA and Bioware’s plans for the upcoming generation of games, “BioWare imagines and creates worlds where you become the hero of your own story. And we’re using this next generation of technology to make those fantasy worlds your reality.” From 2017, developers at Bioware also tweeted at fans saying that plans for a fourth and fifth installment in the series were already being theorized and planned. Including the released trailers for a new title in 2018, the newest addition in the series has been awaited for by fans for a few years now. Though no official release or title has been given for the newest game yet, fans of the series can be hopeful that the Dragon Age series will be returning with the release of the next generation of gaming consoles in 2021.
