New Content Coming to Horizon Zero Dawn

E3 2017 saw Guerilla Games, developer of Horizon Zero Dawn, sharing information on upcoming DLC for the game titled Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. A recent post to PlayStation’s blog has also revealed the release date for The Frozen Wilds.

The base game is an open world action-adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by ‘machines.’ Horizon Zero Dawn‘s protagonist, Aloy, is an outcast and hunter with special perceptive abilities. As Aloy, players embark on a journey through a vast and dynamic world where lush nature is put in harsh contrast to the high-technology creatures and relics that populate it. Gameplay is a combination of narrative storytelling, exploration, and combat as players search for the answers to mysteries that have plagued the tribal people of Horizon Zero Dawn for years. Horizon Zero Dawn was released in February of 2017.

The expansion will follow Aloy to an Arctic wasteland filled with new creatures, characters, and stories. In the trailer, Aloy claims to be in search of “answers,” and Guerilla’s latest post refers to the DLC as the latest chapter of Aloy’s ongoing journey. In addition, The Frozen Wilds will include an exclusive avatar for the PS4.

More information about The Frozen Wilds will be forthcoming as the release date draws closer; for now, players can expect the next part of Horizon Zero Dawn’s story to arrive on November 7th, 2017. The Frozen Wilds is available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store for $19.99.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
