Over the weekend, BioMutant developer THQ Nordic showed off twenty-five minutes of gameplay featuring the game’s combat system and early missions. Last month, the game was given a new cinematic trailer; this footage of the game reveals a few enemies that can be encountered, world design, and bits of BioMutant‘s story.
The PAX gameplay footage contains combat with a mix of melee and ranged weapons and a combination of attacks and dodges, as is common with RPG combat systems. The video is accompanied by a narration, which speaks of a Tree of Life and a plague that is gradually poisoning the land and the Tree. The world of BioMutant will be home to a number of tribes, all of which seem to be turning against one another because of the plague. One of BioMutant‘s central plotlines will be the unification of these tribes in defense against some unknown greater evil.
As it reveals missions only from early on in the game, how deeply players can affect these tribes and the world is still a mystery. The game will have a type of morality system; as shown in the gameplay footage, good and evil choices will be tracked as the game progresses.
BioMutant is an upcoming open-world, post-apocalyptic RPG with some type of customizable raccoon-like mammal as the player character. The game was officially announced during Gamescom 2017 and will release sometime in 2018. BioMutant will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
