Monster Hunter: World Will Receive Free Content Updates Post-Launch

The world of Monster Hunter has been a stomping ground lately, especially with the beta of Monster Hunter: World still underway over on PlayStation 4 for PlayStation Plus users. For those who will be picking up the game at the launch date, there is even more good news to go around. According to Monster Hunter: World‘s producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, the game will receive updates after launch that will add new content for free.

In the recent interview with Famitsu, the interviewer brings up a statement made by Tsujimoto in a Monster Hunter: World stream regarding free post-launch updates. When asked what kind of updates players would receive, the producer stated that “In Monster Hunter: World, we’re thinking about free update patches after release. Speaking in a tangible way, we plan to add new monsters among others, so we hope the game will become playable in a long term.” It appears that not only will there be new monsters and new hunts to look forward to in the coming months after launch, but other content seems to be in the works as well.

With this emphasis on free content updates, Capcom seems to be shifting their business approach for the Monster Hunter series towards a more consumer-friendly one. By continually adding in post-launch content for free, hopefully the Monster Hunter team will succeed in their goal of giving the title worthwhile longevity.

Although it has been confirmed that free content will be added to the title, Tsujimoto also adds that “[in regards to] which monsters will be added, we will inform of that later so please look forward to it,” so we will have to wait some time before the specifics of the new monster content come forward, let alone other free updates.

Monster Hunter: World launches worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 28th, 2018, and for PC at a later, unknown date.
