Monster Hunter: World Getting Two Big Updates In 2019

Today, Capcom announced its plans for their popular game, Monster Hunter: World in 2019. The game will be getting two big updates. A paid expansion pack called Iceborne will come in Autumn 2019, and in early 2019, players can play as Geralt of Rivia in a collaboration with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The collaboration with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will bring in some of the RPG elements from The Witcher series. Players will be sent on Witcher-inspired quests and will get to utilize the signature fighting style of Geralt. You’ll be able to seamlessly blend swordplay with combat magic and the assortment of monster hunting equipment. Geralt of Rivia will be voiced once again by Doug Cockle who has played Geralt since the first game. The crossover will be available in early 2019 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on the PC version at a later date.

Iceborne is set directly after the events of the main story in Monster Hunter: World. The expansion will introduce new weapons, quests, environments, and monsters. In a stream, the developer says that the size of Iceborne will be similar to previous expansions such as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. More information will come in the Spring.

Other updates that were announced for the game include the return of Kulve Taroth as an Arch-tempered character for a limited time.  Also in Spring 2019, an Arch-tempered Nergigante will be added. A one-year anniversary event called Appreciation Fest will also be coming to the game, and a trial version of the game will be available from December 11-17. Players will be allowed to play the game up to a 3-star quest, with your save being transferable after purchasing the full game.

At the Game Awards, while they were accepting the award for best RPG, two of the game’s developers said that they had some news that would make fans happy. Everyone who likes Monster Hunter: World is sure to appreciate this news of more content coming to the game. Geralt as a playable character in the game was also a shock to fans since this marks the character’s second crossover, with Geralt also being playable in Soul Calibur VI.
