Capcom is getting ready to treat its Monster Hunter: World player base to a worldwide celebration for the game’s one-year anniversary. World’s Appreciation Festival will commend year-one hunters with special rewards, quests, and upgraded monsters. The Festival kicks off January 26 and will run for almost a month until February 22.
The first Appreciation Festival in World will primarily hold the party in the social hub, the Celestial Pursuit, just like the other seasonal events that have been held this year. As the hub’s mascot, Poogie, dresses up for the occasions players will receive “special surprises” in their daily login bonuses, limited bounties, and event quests. These will include Lucky Vouchers and Appreciation Tickets, which can be accumulated along with Appreciation Fireworks. Items and services by vendors will be available at lowered prices and the famous chef will have an appreciation platter for players to devour before a hunt.

Two very familiar base game monsters will be returning for revenge against all hunters for a year of being pursued. But the versions of these two beasts are different and much more deadly than their regular species. The first will be the Greatest Jagras, an even larger version of the Great Jagras located in the Ancient Forest. The Greatest Jagras will be in the wilds and offer high tier rewards from January 26 through February 7. The second monster will be the Name’s Lavasioth, which will be a more deadly version of the regular Lavasioth that is located in the Elder’s Recess.
Typically seasonal events have been held during separate times for consoles and PC, but the one-year anniversary celebration will be held on the same dates for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Monster Hunter: World had a critically acclaimed first year of content and even made our 2018 Top 10 list that you can find here. Much more is coming to World in 2019 with Geralt from the Witcher series making an appearance in February and the game’s first major expansion, Iceborne, that is set to release this autumn.
