Capcom’s Monster Hunter Digital Event has wrapped up, and it’s given the fans a whole lot more to look forward to this year. The company briefly went over some details for the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise, which is also getting demo later this week on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Not only that, but Capcom also revealed some details for their other title in the works, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. They also announced that the title will officially launch this year on July 9 for both the Nintendo Switch and PC.
The new demo for Monster Hunter Rise will expand on the previous one which offers a brand new quest. The new adventure will have players taking on the cover beast for the game, the Magnamalo, which is essentially a giant shogun-looking machine of destruction. The Magnamalo is also the very same monster that will be made into an amiibo, which is part of the Collectors Edition for the game. Once the game fully releases later this month, Capcom will be offering free updates which include a new Hunter Rating cap as well as a new monster to battle, the Chameleos.
As if this wasn’t exciting enough, Capcom then briefly went into their next entry for the franchise, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. The company, at last, announced the aforementioned release date of July 9 for the Nintendo Switch. While they did not announce it during the digital event, the official trailer revealed that it will also be coming to PC through Steam. The title was announced along with Monster Hunter Rise back in September during the Nintendo Direct Mini presentation, and something that a lot of the die-hard Monster Hunter fans have been looking forward to.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a sequel to the original that released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016, and lets players form actual bonds with the Monsters as opposed to straight-up hunting them. The trailer above shows a group of Hunters watching a red egg hatch into a baby Rathalos, as well as small glimpses of the combat which looks to be similar to a JRPG. Capcom also announced that the game will have multiplayer in the form of co-op, where you’ll be able to team up with friends and complete quests. As we mentioned earlier, the game will also be coming to Steam, although an official page has yet to be set up yet.
Monster Hunter Rise will officially launch later this month on March 26 for the Nintendo Switch with a PC version coming at a later time. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will launch this year on July 9 for the Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam.
