Yesterday, Jan. 20th, Microids announced in a press release that they’d reached an agreement with ViacomCBS Consumer Products to publish three Garfield games in the upcoming future. Microids’s Editorial Director Alain Milly expressed the company’s excitement over the deal in the following statement:
“Garfield is a well-known and family-friendly IP fitting perfectly our portfolio made of popular franchises for all ages. Following successful collaborations on Garfield: Wild Ride and Garfield Kart Furious Racing, we are incredibly honored to work with ViacomCBS Consumer Products on three new games.”
At the moment, no information regarding release dates or available platforms for these three Garfield games has been announced yet. However, Microids has an established history with the Garfield franchise as they’ve previously published Garfield Kart Furious Racing and also helped publish Garfield: Wild Ride alongside Bandai Namco Europe.
Although Garfield hasn’t had his own video game since 2019 when Garfield Kart Furious Racing was released, that hasn’t stopped him from staying active within the video game industry. He’s currently a playable character in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, where he was introduced as the game’s first free DLC character available on all platforms last year. His likeness was also featured as a limited-edition custom Xbox Series S that was released to celebrate his Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl debut.
Microids is a Paris-based video game developing and publishing company that has released a variety of games across multiple platforms and for various audiences. The company’s most notable games include the Syberia series and Blacksad: Under the Skin.
