Mass Effect Mod for Homeworld: Remastered In the Works

Despite being restricted to the third person shooter genre, the world of Mass Effect is filled with epic space battles and diverse factions, two ingredients essential for a good Real-Time Strategy game. To that end, Phoenix Interactive, which describes itself as “a non-profit incorporated association that develops and publishes free games and mods,” is working on a Mass Effect total conversion mod for Homeworld Remastered

Titled Mass Effect Reborn, the project looks to be a massive undertaking, with the developers having partnered with BioWare, Tunngle, a p2p VPN tool,  and MassEffectUniverse.fr.

Phoenix had previously worked on an alpha version of Reborn for Homeworld 2, but are going full throttle with it now to bring the mod up to the standards of the recently released Homeworld Remastered.

Four playable factions are planned, namely the good guys, the Systems Alliance, the diabolical Cerberus, the Geth, and of course, the unbelievably evil Reapers. An original score is also in the works, along with full voice acting, and its visuals are also receiving an overhaul to allow for 8k textures.

On Reborn’s modDB page, the developers wrote:

We want Mass Effect; Reborn to be a truly Mass Effect experience. That is what fan-base is about, but we are fans, and we are doing this for other ones. We love this universe. We will certainly publish a new announcement really soon to discuss about our new content, and our development perspectives

In addition to Mass Effect Reborn, Phoenix are also working on two other total conversion mods for Homeworld: Remastered: Stargate and Battlestar Galactica.
