Mass Effect Legendary Edition Trailer Shows Graphical Upgrades from the Original Trilogy

We’re exactly one month away from Mass Effect: Legendary Editionand BioWare has just raised the anticipation to a whole new level. The company has released a brand new trailer for the compilation, with the focus being on the graphical difference between the upcoming launch, and the original trilogy that was released a couple of generations ago. While there aren’t that many major differences, there are some aspects that make the newer remakes a much better look, and more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Some of these instances include seeing Thane’s scales on his skin more clearly, more details on Tali’s mask, and Garrus’s scars showing up more after the first game. It also helps that these new visuals are all suited for modern-day televisions and monitors, and depending on what system you’re playing it on, it will more than likely shine brighter. BioWare also put some side-by-side comparisons in the trailer, and when you look at it from this perspective, the changes are very obvious. The original titles were a graphical marvel at the time of their release, 2007, 2010, and 2012 respectively, but it’s very apparent that they have aged in a market that is now dominated by 4K and 60 FPS.

We also got to see some open-world aspects, such as the landscape of Noveria and Therum, two prominent worlds in the first Mass Effect. We also got a glimpse of the Mako, the all-terrain vehicle that has become famous, or infamous depending on your view, with its control scheme. The Mako looks amazing compared to its 2007 counterpart, as does the Citadel which also received a serious facelift. As we mentioned earlier, the set releases in one month, but after seeing this new trailer, one month feels like several. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to get our hands on Commander Shepard and company once again.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition officially launches on May 14 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and Origin.
