Masahiro Sakurai Says The Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Fighter Will Be The Last

During Nintendo’s “Mr.Sakurai Presents” presentation stream of Kazuya joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Masahiro Sakurai detailed future plans for Fighter Pass Vol. 2. In this, it was revealed that the next DLC fighter “will be the last one.”

Sakurai spoke about how much working on Super Smash Bros. has meant to him, but also confirmed that the next fighter after Kazuya will be the last. “I’ve been working on this for a long time. You could call it my life’s work. But finally, the next DLC fighter will be the last one. There won’t be anymore after that. It’ll be a while before that announcement, but it’ll be available this year as planned.”

Towards the end of the live showcase, Sakurai reminisced about his time working on Super Smash Bros for Wii U & 3DS, stating “Up until now, we’ve created all sorts of fighters and stages. Gathering all of these games, new and old, and compiling them into a single product is a task that has meant a lot to me.”

Alongside Kazuya, the next wave of Mii Fighter costumes will be released, which includes “Dante” from Devil May Cry, “Dragonborn” from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, “Lloyd Irving” from Tales of Symphonia, and “Shantae” from the titular Shantae series, which includes a music track with the purchase of the latter costume.

Along with the announcement of Kazuya and the Mii Fighter costumes, it was also announced that the first amiibo based on Fighters Pass Vol.2 is in development, with the first one being Min Min. This amiibo currently has a projected release window of 2022.

Kazuya Mishima from the Tekken series will join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tomorrow, June 29, as part of the Challenger Pack 10 DLC. The DLC, like all the other fighter packs, will also include a new stage and a selection of music tracks from the respective franchise. Kazuya will battle it out on Mishima Dojo alongside this already star-studded gaming roster.
