“Hi! Konnichiwa! Hajimemashite!” exclaims Peni Parker as she leaps into her mech suit and prepares for battle. Peni is the newest addition to the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls character guide roster. Though the game is not set to release until August 6. 2026, Sony Interactive Entertainment has chosen to advertise gameplay through character guides on the PlayStation YouTube channel.
Similar to her portrayal in Marvel Rivals, Peni Parker is depicted as “a genius schoolgirl who pilots the combat robot, SP//dr, as the Spider-hero of her universe.” As for how, exactly, she has managed to appear in the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls universe, it is explained that “she stumbled into this universe through an interdimensional tear, and is now searching for a way to return home.”
Nicknamed “The Kawaii Kiddo,” Peni Parker has received a four and a half star rating for ease of use. She comes equipped with two unique abilities, four basic skills, one Super Skill, one Ultimate Skill, and one Tōkon Assemble signature combo. Peni fights from inside of her mech suit, giving her both an offensive and defensive advantage against opponents.
Peni’s ‘Gadget Launcher’ ability allows her to use her mech suit to “shoot out a drone at random from a selection of 8 types.” Players are warned, however, that “there is a cooldown before it can be used again, indicated by the Gadget Launcher icon.” Each of these drones have different names and abilities. They consist of Spider Racer, Jumping Spider, Spider Sentry, Bazooka Spider, Spider Seeker, Parachute Spider, Wheel Bomb, and Spider Beacon.
Her second Unique Ability is called ‘Wall Stick.’ While this ability does not include as many options as Gadget Launcher, Wall Stick does break the third wall and allow Peni and her mech to crawl along the game screen’s ‘walls’ and attack her opponent from any direction. Peni Parker’s other skills are all given names inspired by her character, and include “Cyber Web,” “Pendulum Web,” “Spider Spin,” “Flying Spider,” “Mecha Blender,” and “Mecha Meltdown.”
Peni Parker will be joining forces with Ms. Marvel, the original Spiderman, Storm, and others. While Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls plans to release in August, the development and publishing team are opening up testing to the public later this month.
