Mario Kart Tour Adds Familiar Faces in Latest Expansion

The hit-mobile racing game by Nintendo, Mario Kart Tour has recently released their “Jungle Tour” expansion that will be adding new characters, carts and a new jungle-themed map for racers. Mario Kart Tour has released a series of themed-racing events that last a few weeks and allow players to purchase and unlock new characters, karts and tracks to race on. The DLC this time around will include familiar faces like Funky Kong and Dixie Kong from the Donkey Kong Country series and will be adding new karts for players to tryout like the Rambi Rider. The expansion is a part of the game’s rotation of events, following the game’s previous “Flower Tour” that added special carts with butterfly wing effects. The Jungle Tour event is set to last from May 19th to June 6th at 11:00 P.M. PT, and the special carts and content will only be available during this time.

Previously, Funky Kong was seen and available for play in Mario Kart Wii, but Dixie Kong is the newest addition to the racing series, and has not previously been seen in any other Mario Kart titles. Fans of the Donkey Kong series will also be at home with the DLC’s newest Rambi Rider kart addition, showcasing Donkey Kong’s ally Rambi as a bike players can race with. Fans have met the content with frustration on Twitter however, wishing that the content would instead be directed towards Mario Kart for the Nintendo Switch or for plans for a future Mario Kart title. Nintendo will be continuing the event through June 2nd, as fans try unlocking and racing with their favorites from the Donkey Kong series.
