Luigi’s Mansion 3 Will Have Paid DLC

First announced back in September 2018, Luigi’s Mansion 3 will finally launch next month on the Nintendo Switch. After showcasing new levels in the game in this month’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo has quietly revealed some new information about the game regarding DLC. On the official Nintendo website, the Luigi’s Mansion 3 page included “Paid DLC” in a list of features that will be included in the game. According to the small listing, this DLC will come to the game at some unspecified point in the future. It will contain new content for the ScreamPark and ScareScraper multiplayer modes.

ScreamPark is a new multiplayer mode that was first revealed in the Direct a few weeks ago. It supports two to eight players on a single console for local multiplayer. The players are separated into two teams—Team Luigi and Team Gooigi—and compete to catch the most ghosts and collect the most coins.

ScareScraper, meanwhile, is a returning multiplayer mode from Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, the 3DS installment in the series. In this mode, up to eight players will work together to clear floors of a skyscraper before time runs out. The floors become more difficult as players make their way up.

It’s unclear what the DLC Nintendo is referring to will offer for these modes, but it’s likely to include new maps for players to try their hands at.

In addition to these multiplayer modes, it appears that most of the game can be played co-op, as the Nintendo website also says that two people can play as Luigi and Gooigi, a new, all-green Luigi doppelganger character, at the same time. Single players can switch off playing as Luigi and Gooigi. Luigi will even have a few new moves that he didn’t have in past games, such as Slam, Suction Shot, and Burst.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be available on the Nintendo Switch on October 31, 2019.
