After years of development, the world of LOYA is a little bit closer to fans. The indie game developed and to be published by creator Joyen, released its first game trailer. LOYA’s official YouTube account published a Gameplay Trailer that goes over some of the game’s mechanics.
LOYA is an exploration and action game, the description on Steam states that players should “Command walking fortresses to battle giant monsters in this open world survival rpg! Play alone or bring your friends to explore, farm, fight, build and craft to unravel the mysteries of Loya!” From that alone the world of LOYA seems to be expansive, and the Gameplay trailer attests to this.
In a splashing opening, LOYA’s Gameplay trailer shows an overhead view of LOYA, before a platform grows legs and starts walking. “BUILD YOUR MOVING HOUSE” the trailer explains as the house walks around the grassy world, one playable character cuts down a tree, and runs to avoid the fall. “BUILD YOUR MOVING HOUSE” the trailer shows that characters can use wood and premade walls to model the house, and a full version of the house with a roof walks around. One interesting thing in this part of the trailer, is the house has a blue slime like creature that seems to have sentience and might seem to control or power the house, presumably this will be revealed more in the future. With the fully built house walking, the playable character creates a fire in a mechanical fireplace, hits an anvil to presumably craft something and fights against a snail monster and a boar. While the players fights, location trackers, and two meters, one with a flame and one with a plus, as well as a “Main Objective” are teased alongside other monsters on the roster.
The house is revealed to be able to fly through the sky, then three characters run together while the trailer echoes “TOGETHER WITH YOUR FRIENDS” as multiple houses with different designs walk through the grass and fly through the clouds. From there the trailer delves into the house’s abilities more, as houses are shown to fight and blow up stone creatures. To further that, houses have their own “HP”, “Energy” and “Load” bars, location mechanics, “Main Objective”, “Tutorial” and weapons like the playable characters revealed earlier. The trailer showcases the house flying and a giant walking creature made of stone, before revealing battle scenes between other houses, stone creatures and multiple of those aforementioned stone giants. The house is able to take shots and destroy other houses, and some stone creatures, but the house runs away as one of the stone giants pulled a massive rock out of the ground to throw at the house. “CHALLENGE THE TITANS” flashes as stone fly and reveal a stone creature coming from beneath before the trailer ends showing a view of a playable character next to the house. If interested, LOYA is available to “Wishlist on Steam” per the trailer.
