Kojima Productions Confirms They’re Working on a New Project

Kojima Productions, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Death Strandinghas announced that they are working on brand new project. In addition, they also have some job openings for said project and are actively looking to fill them as soon as possible. As for what this new endeavor is about, the studio has said nothing about it. Considering that their previous IP was a monumental task that took several years to complete, we can’t even begin to imagine what they’re going to do with this new one.

Kojima Productions is of course led by the legendary video game creator/director Hideo Kojima. Kojima made his name known around the world during the heydays of Konami with his groundbreaking title in the late 1990s: Metal Gear Solid. From there Kojima continued to work on the Metal Gear franchise, which would go onto become one of the all-time greats. Kojima also developed another series with two mecha inspired titles, Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders 2: The 2nd Runner, both of which have garnered their own respective fan base as well. Kojima famously split from Konami in late 2015, only a few months after he completed Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

It didn’t take long for Kojima to start up another venture though, as he immediately reformed Kojima Productions into a full and operational independent studio. Nearly four and a half years later, their first major IP, Death Stranding, was released. There are a couple of possibilities as to what this new project will entail. One of these is a potential sequel to Death Stranding, although he did state that if he were to do this he would essentially “start from zero.” Another one is new horror game which Kojima hinted at last year. However, in June of this year, Kojima stated that an unnamed project was canceled, but just month later a collaboration with horror writer Junji Ito was teased. In other words, Kojima is doing more Kojima things.

We’ll have to wait and see just what new IP the studio is working on, and hopefully, we find out more about it sooner than later. Who knows, with The Game Awards right around the corner, we just might be in for some new surprises, especially since host/organizer Geoff Keighly is really good friends with Hideo Kojima.
