Earlier today Bloomberg reported came out that Swedish company Embracer group is selling Sable Interactive in a $500 million dollar deal, they are reportedly being sold to a private investor group. This isn’t exactly surprising news as Embracer has been affected by the layoffs affecting the industry at the moment, and this seems to be just another step in their cost-cutting plan. This is just adding more drama to the ongoing saga of the announced Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic remake, as it has already moved from company to company, and now its parent company has let go of its developing studio to private investors.
This will probably be a huge sign of relief for fans of the upcoming Star Wars remake, as for some time now there has been little to no news from Embracer group about the status of the game, going as far to ignore and deflect questions about its development in prior investor calls. Sable Interactive were a major reason for the deal as they wanted to separate from Embracer group, only 4 years after Embracer acquired them for $525 million dollars in 2020.
Now that the deal is confirmed players should be ready to finally hear more updates on the title, and see actual development of the game happening. Again its very likely the remake has been in limbo ever since its announcement as there has been no updates since its announcement trailer, with report in 2022 from Jason Schreier telling that the game was delayed indefinitely. It should be noted that Sable Interactive is also working on the announced Jurassic Park survival horror game that was announced on Decembers Game Awards, adding another project that has an ever higher probability of actually seeing the light of day now.
