King’s Raid to Cease Operations in March 2025

King’s Raid is a mobile RPG developed by the South Korean game studio Vespa Inc. It was initially released in 2016 in South Korea and then globally in 2017. Unlike many gacha-based RPGs, King’s Raid introduced a unique system where players could purchase their desired characters with in-game currency instead of relying entirely on random draw, which increased its popularity, along with its developers actively supporting the game with frequent updates, new characters, and endgame content. By May 2020, the game had been downloaded over 13 million times across 150 countries, and in February 2019, King’s Raid generated approximately $418,000 in the U.S. alone, ranking 19th in monthly revenue among mobile games.

Unfortunately, as with many mobile games, King’s Raid began to see a decline in its player base and Vespa appeared to struggle financially. In March 2023, the company announced its intention to enter the mergers and acquisitions market, seeking external investors to address its financial instability. Later that year, in November 2023, Vespa laid off all 105 of its employees, indicating severe operational challenges. Vespa’s hardship over the past few years has culminated into the company’s announcement of King Raid’s imminent shutdown on March 15, 2025.

The King’s Raid notice, which was shared via a post on the game’s official Facebook account, begins by thanking everyone for their loyalty and support. It then delivers the bad news.

Despite our continued efforts to provide enjoyable and meaningful experiences, we have determined that maintaining a stable service environment is no longer feasible. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the game. We deeply apologize for delivering such disappointing news, especially after all the love and support you have shown us.

The post’s closure details explain that Download & Payment Suspension began on February 14, and that the game’s official Service Termination Date: is set for March 15, 2025. Vespa assures dissatisfied customers that they can “contact the respective store where [their] purchase was made.”

While many video games are available only to those who can afford expensive consoles and computers, mobile games are designed for the average person.
