Square Enix has revealed some of the updates for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III after its release later this month. The updates include two new videos and something called the Memory Archive. Information about all of these things has been released on the Kingdom Hearts Twitter account.
On Tuesday, January 29, the game’s release date, update 1.01 will be released. It will include several data fixes and the Memory Archive. The Memory Archive is a set of videos which provide a summary of the Kingdom Hearts story to get everyone set for when they start Kingdom Hearts III.
On Wednesday, January 31, the game will get the Epilogue. In order to play the Epilogue, players will have to have completed the game and seen the ending. On Thursday, January 31, the secret video will be available to watch. Like the Epilogue, players will have to complete the game first. However, players also will need to meet other criteria for this one; these prerequisites will vary depending on what difficulty level was chosen.
The tweets about this news mention that an internet connection will be needed to download and update the game, but that the base game is all you need to view the ending of the game. One of the tweets also makes note that “the epilogue and secret movie are video content that will enhance player’s enjoyment of the world of Kingdom Hearts.”
This news comes after last month’s big leak as copies of the game were out in the wild. Tetsuya Nomura, the director of Kingdom Hearts III, has since responded to the leak. In recent Kingdom Hearts III news, Square Enix has provided more detailed look at the Keyblades that Sora will be wielding in Kingdom Hearts III. They have also announced more of the voice cast. The cast of Big Hero 6 is back to voice their characters, just like some of the other celebrities such as Zachary Levi and Kristen Bell are voicing their characters from Tangled and Frozen.
