Kingdom Come: Deliverance Exceeds Expectations Despite Its Shortcomings

Despite starting as a nearly-abandoned project from 2009 to 2011, Kingdom Come: Deliverance has come a long way since its developmental beginning. Not only was it funded in an overly successful Kickstarter campaign, but the 15th century RPG’s sales have been going through the roof with a steady and consistent stream of sales coming through Steam alone.

According to SteamSpy, a web app that allows users to check in-depth stats of a Steam game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance has currently sold around 500,000 units solely through Steam alone. With generally favorable reviews across the board, the popularity of the title is no surprise, with the peak concurrent users on Steam reaching over 52,000 users. In addition, nearly 94% of people who purchased the game have played it, with the average playtime of a user being 22 minutes and 52 seconds, and the median playtime is 18 minutes and 13 seconds. In addition, the content generated on YouTube surrounding Kingdom Come: Deliverance have been massively successful with over 5.4 million views on content created by and for the title, and there have been over 36,000 comments on these videos.

While the majority of the game has been positive, there have been some exceedingly detrimental negatives to the game as well. As of now, it is difficult to save, and the only way to save outside of finding a bed impedes gameplay progress for a little while. In addition, glitches and bugs have left a sour taste in the mouths of some gamers. Warhorse Studios has made it a point, however, to listen to the community in order to fix any current and future issues, so these problems will be fixed soon enough. Also due to this, enhancements to the lock-pick and pick-pocket minigames will come in future patches, with controller support for the PC and character respec potions tailing shortly behind.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is now available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
