Kena: Bridge of Spirits, the upcoming action-adventure game developed and published by Ember Lab, has once again been delayed into September 2021. Ember Lab cited that the urge to delay the project came after a need to “polish the game across all platforms.” In a statement to Twitter, Ember Lab further elaborated on the reason for the delay, stating that the team is “working extremely hard and we feel the extra time is critical to ensure the best experience possible. We know many of you are eager to play and we appreciate your patience as the team continues to work on delivering the best version of Kena.”

Kena: Bridge of Spirits was initially set to release in late 2020 but was delayed to the beginning of 2021. Another delay caused the game to be pushed back to August 2021 as the team had to transition to a working from home environment due to the global pandemic. This latest delay pushes Kena: Bridge of Spirits back by one month, but when it does launch, the game will be released as a “timed console exclusive” on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The PC version, however, will first be released to the Epic Games Store.
The game has received positive notice since its first reveal for PlayStation 5 last year. Many gamers enjoyed Kena: Bridge of Spirits’ attractive art style that has been compared to that of a Pixar movie. As for the storyline, the game centers around an eponymous hero named Kena, a young spirit guide who uses her magical abilities to help deceased people move from the physical world to the spirit world. Presented through a third-person perspective, players are tasked will collecting small spirit companions known as “the Rot.” These small spirits will help Kena complete tasks and battle enemies throughout her journey.
A 2021 Tribeca Festival Games Selection, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a game to keep an eye out for. If the game’s storyline is anything like its promising graphics, we are all in for a treat when Kena: Bridge of Spirits releases this Fall.
