June 2026 Steam Next Fest: New Demo For Worming From Home is Available

As seen in the Steam Next Fest trailer, an exclusive new demo for Worming from Home is available for download. Described as a “remote work simulator where you are a worm,” this is the first game to be developed and published by Mason Sabharwhal and Zach Northrop. The player’s main objective is to “upgrade, invest, and finally earn that promotion!”

Worming from Home is exactly what the title suggests. But, instead of shrinking office equipment down to the size of a worm, players are tasked with navigating a human sized office setup, while still having the limitations, including size, of a normal worm. The game is a parody of a remote job, with tasks including typing on a keyboard to “convince your boss that you’re actually doing work,” ‘worming’ the system by using “insider information to illegally game the stock market,” and occasionally picking up and answering your work phone.

Obviously, worms do not have extremities, so this can make certain office tasks, like filling out spreadsheets and sending emails relatively challenging. Typing is accomplished by “bash[ing] your head against the keys.” Worming from Home also uses ragdoll physics to make the player’s job more realistic and worm-like.

Completing desk work is not the only objective, however. Just like a real job, players need to maintain a “worm-life balance.” Some hobbies available are “getting swole in the gym, reading the latest self-help books, shopping for trinkets, or flirting with your coworkers.” Updates regarding how, mechanically, this is possible will be released soon.

The new Steam Next Fest demo has updated bug fixes, a smartphone, and the Wormhole. Bug fixes are promised to add “extra quality of life features.” The smartphone is a “new way to unlock cosmetics by doing fun silly stuff,” and the Wormhole is a “brand new platforming challenge in an alternate dimension.” Another large update is that Worming from Home now has Mac iOS support, making it playable on both Windows and Mac systems.

Worming from Home will be fully released on Steam sometime in Q3 of 2026, with more updates leading up to the release date. Steam Next Fest demos are only able to be downloaded until June 22, 2026, during the digital festival.
