Small indie game company itch.io is now offering a bundle to support the Black Lives Matter movement. The bundle, called “The Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality” holds a staggering 740 games for just $5 (separately would total to around $3,400). At this time, many more games are adding their own to the bundle to support and the minimum donation accepted is $5.
By purchasing this bundle you are contributing to the fight against police brutality and providing necessary funding to two amazing organizations that are working to make the world a better place.
The Black Lives Matter Support bundle will be available until June 17th and features games made from over eighteen indie developers who “are standing together to oppose police brutality and white supremacy”. Proceeds from these earnings will be donated to organizations working against police brutality and in support of racial equality, along with bail funds for those that have been arrested for taking part in protests. There are two different groups of games available to purchase to support. The first group has different games that are usually $20 including Emily is Away Too, and We Met in May. The second group has more games that are ranged in the $40 range and includes games such as Coffee Talk, Moon Hunters, and StarCrossed.
So far, itch.io has raised over $55,000 just two days after launching this campaign, $5,000 in the first two hours of its launch, and $31,000 in the first twenty-four hours. At this time, a second bundle is being prepared by itch.io’s creator to raise money for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Community Bail Fund.
Our community continues to rally and support our fundraiser, we’ve decided to raise the goal once again.
Can we raise $99,999.99 (wow, that’s a lot of numbers)? This is the MAXIMUM goal we’re able to set on itch. With your help, we think it’s possible!
