Intergalatic: The Heretic Prophet & The Witcher IV Reportedly Won’t Be Released Until 2027 Or Later

Back in December during The Game Awards, both CD Projekt Red and Naughty Dog shared what they’ve got planned next with the announcement of The Witcher IV and Intergalatic: The Heretic Prophet. With every major game announcement comes the question of when we will get to play them. Nowadays, when game gets announced, the notion is that players will get their hands on it within the next two years. However, with things the way they are now, development takes a while, especially for developers like CD Projekt Red and Naughty Dog. Responding to a comment on ResetEra, Jason Schreier said that neither game will be released next year so at the earliest, both games could launch in 2027.

CD Projekt Red announced that The Witcher IV won’t be released until after 2026 in their latest earnings call. “We are not going to announce the precise launch date for the game yet,” CD Projekt chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz said in response to the inquiry. “All we could share now to give more visibility to investors is that the game will not be launched within the time frame of the first target for the incentive program, which ends December 31, 2026.”

In response to a comment on ResetEra talking about the games, Schreier said “I’m pretty sure I said they were both going to be very early teases. Neither of those games will be out next year.”

So far, we know very little about either game. CD Projekt Red has revealed some details regarding the choice to have Ciri as the main protagonist now and how she’ll differ from Geralt in terms of gameplay.

Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann has shared some details about the game in a recent one-on-one interview with Alex Garland regarding the game’s story and world and how it differs from what Naughty Dog usually does.

Talking to IGN at The Last of Us season 2 premiere, Druckmann talked about what it’s like to play the game.

“I will say we are playing it at the office and it’s incredible,” Druckmann teased. “It’s really good. I’m so excited to finally put gameplay out into the world and show people about it, because we just showed you the very, very, very tip on the iceberg. The game goes pretty deep beyond that.”

Druckmann also clarified the statement he made earlier this month regarding whether or not there will be a Part III for The Last of Us which he said at the time might not happen.
