InSomnia Reaches Kickstarter Goal, Pursues Stretch Goals

InSomnia, the 3D post-apocalyptic space age tactical RPG from Mono Studios, has reached its funding goal on Kickstarter.

InSomnia is a game that wears its influences clearly on its sleeve. The game is visually and, in many ways, atmospherically inspired by classics like Fallout and Arcanum, and the developers have no qualms about admitting the role these games have played in driving them forward in their vision for the game. Despite this, InSomnia manages to keep its own personality through what the developers refer to as a “dieselpunk sandbox” set in outer space.

With so much history and creativity behind the game, is it any wonder it managed to reach its funding goal?

Of course, now that they’ve managed to net the base funding needed to bring their creative vision to life, InSomnia’s developers Mono Studios are looking to add even more to their plans. With a week left to go on the game’s Kickstarter it’s time to grind a few levels and eke out that last bit of experien– err, funding needed to reach the next level or two beyond the basic product.

The game has a lot of great ideas going for it, to be sure, and the developers have made sure to make InSomnia sound as intriguing as possible:

Explore the world as a warrior—or hide in the shadows as an outcast. Perhaps you’ll be a charismatic leader—or maybe you’ll become an apex predator with bloodshot eyes and a thrill for the kill. Either way, you will have to muster the strength to survive in order to find out why mankind has embarked on such a risky journey through uncharted space. InSomnia offers an epic, non-linear storyline with many ‘points of no return’ (think of them as forks in the road) and deep, immersive gameplay. The fate of the space station’s many inhabitants will depend on your choices.

There’s a lot of information on the game’s home page and Kickstarter concerning the studio’s intentions for content, both current and future. With around 50 hours of content expected out of the box and another good 60-100 hours of additional content expected from future expansions, InSomnia definitely had enough potential to warrant getting funded.

If you’re intrigued by the game but feel weary of Kickstarter, Mono Studios expects InSomnia to be released to the public some time in the fourth quarter of 2015.
