Indie Platformer ‘Aero’s Quest’ Announced

Curacao-based mobile app developer Soloweb N.V. have announced that they are collaborating with artist Travis Lacey of Ravenseye Studios on a new indie puzzle platformer titled Aero’s Quest.

Aero’s Quest‘s premise sounds exactly like the million other premises that have come before it; you, the player, are Aero, a young boy with cybernetic implants and gravity-defying hair, and you must embark on a quest to save your beloved girlfriend, Ariella, from the clutches of Andraus, a creature that looks like the lovechild of a Combine Overseer from Half Life 2 and a suit of power armor from Fallout.

Few details about the game currently exist, but needless to say the game will contain plenty of side-scrolling platforming action that lead programmer Ivano Cheers promises will “give the players sleepless nights of sheer fun.”

A teaser trailer has been released, but there really is very little to see in it.

Some screenshots have been posted on the official website, depicting the hero Aero negotiating a variety of obstacles in a backdrop that combines lush forests with futuristic machinery.

Several blog posts on the official website go into detail on the the development of Aero’s Quest, such as this one by Lacey:

Aero wears a burgundy shawl around his neck. Ariella wears a burgundy dress. A symbolism of there connection. Did Ariella give this Shawl to Aero? Maybe. There in the question and tie in of the color starts the development of the characters to there story. What life might they of had together before Andraus comes into play? These questions I find are what starts a player finding an interest in a character.

At any rate, the game will be available for the PC and Mac, and Soloweb N.V. are looking to release the game on Steam and possibly consoles beyond that. A free version of the game will also be available online, although this version will be pared down compared to the full and presumably not-free version.
