When Heroes of the Storm first came out back in summer of 2015, it was the crossover battle arena video game of the Blizzard titles. Then, a few months later in October, the developers released a developer diary talking about the upcoming heroes for Heroes of the Storm that were coming from the Diablo series. Thus began the introduction of iconic characters from that franchise. Of the character names that were dropped in the diary, Imperius was one of them, so fans waited as the other Diablo characters trickled in. They were being placed into roles that would suit them best and given powers that were relevant to their characters or powers from Diablo.
Then finally, four years later, the Diablo character has joined the roster. Or at least, the PTR roster. Imperius, the Aspect of Valor, has arrived:

Imperius was actually kept in the dark until the Tweet drop introducing him. While this is only an announcement of Imperius joining the roster, there have been a few discoveries about what he might have in terms of powers and role. Fans have speculated he would have similar powers to those he has in Diablo, such as telekinesis and teleportation. However, he has been confirmed for the role of a Bruiser.
As for what else he might bring to the Nexus, the details are still unknown. However, there is much to rejoice as this is a character that has been long requested by fans of both Heroes of the Storm and the Diablo series, so he’s more than welcome in the hero roster.
Imperius will be heading to the Heroes of the Storm PTR on January 2, 2019. New year, new character. For more updates about Imperius and his roles, check out the Heroes of the Storm twitter.
