Mobile and browser-based game developer Hunted Cow Studios announced a partnership with board and card game designer Victory Point Games. Hunted Cow hopes to add digital versions of Victory Point’s most popular titles to their library, which currently consists of 23 games available on either iOS mobile devices or PC web browsers.
Hunted Cow’s current titles fall predominantly within the role playing and strategy genres. Founded in 2003, the company has published a number of browser games including their flagship title, Fallen Sword, a 2D fantasy MMORPG which has attracted some four million players over its eight year history and currently maintains a player base of over 600,000 people according to Hunted Cow. In November 2013 the growing developer launched a fully 3D browser MMO entitled Eldevin, which incorporates a number of ambitious elements not often seen in games confined to a web browser such a plethora of group dungeons, a dynamically branching story, and a classless combat system featuring roughly 100 skills and 200 talents. The company has also recently ventured into development for iOS mobile devices in the form of isometric strategy games such as Civil War 1864 and Ancient Battle: Alexander.
Hunted Cow is currently planning to digitize four of Victory Point’s popular solitaire games. Astra Titanus puts the player in the role of a starship captain attempting to defend his fleet against an alien threat known as the Star Titan, while Legions of Darkness pits the player’s forces against a demonic army laying siege to their castle. The final two games currently planned for digital publication are both survival horror titles. Dawn of the Zeds is set in a besieged rural town during the zombie apocalypse while Infection: Humanity’s Last Gasp takes place in New York City as a deadly plague sweeps through the metropolis. In addition to these titles, Victory Point games has published a number of other card and board games since its founding in 2007, including Cruel Necessity and Darkest Night.
Victory Point’s co-founder Alan Emrich hopes that the digital development and publishing partnership with Hunted Cow will bring their games to a wider audience, commenting that the fact that Victory Point is “a board game publisher staffed by many digital game developers” will help the two studios find common ground to build upon as their partnership matures.
Hunted Cow Studios has not yet announced which platforms Victory Point’s titles will appear on or speculated at a release date for any of the planned games.
