Hunt: Showdown Teases a Second Map

Hunt: Showdown puts you in the boots of a tracker and a hunter of terrifying monsters alongside a fellow companion that can be a friend or a match-made random. The developers at the Crytek studio have put an interesting twist on the current battle royale formula that is sweeping the industry with other titles like Fortnite or the upcoming Blackout in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Similar to other battle royale games, Hunt: Showdown was released in early access in February with an official release date slated for late 2018. It has yet to be seen if this will come to fruition since the year is winding to a close. Crytek has teased a trailer for a new second map for hunters based in a fictionalized, post-Civil War Louisiana. The Lawson Delta map will be available to early access players this November. Check out the trailer:

In Hunt: Showdown two partners pursue a specific dark beast that you must banish back to hell. But, it’s not that simple. At the same time, other minion monsters wander the land and other pairs of hunters seeking the same prize are threats that persist. If your team happens to be the lucky crew to slay and banish the monster, it doesn’t end there. You must reach the escape point to hold your position from other partners who will be attempting to stop you and will be able to see where you’re heading on the game map. The other stand-apart feature is that your progress carries over to the next hunt; your gear and guns go with you. The caveat to this is that if you die in the next hunt…you lose everything.

The hunter become the hunted in this game and even though it is still in early access, Crytek’s release of another map so soon is just one example of their roadmap to the final product. Detailed short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals are discussed on the Roadmap page. While it has been stated in interviews that the official launch will only be available on Steam, there is hope and speculation that this unique battle royale will reach consoles one day.

Hunt: Showdown is available for PC on the Steam Store.
