With the ongoing popularity of battle royal games the past couple of years, some gamers are beginning to feel burnt out from the genre. Hunt: Showdown took a very different route when it comes to that genre making it it’s own in a sense. This is because Hunt brings a strong sense of PVE elements to its game. Players will team up, hunt for bounties and push through an immersive environment set in the late 1890s filled with infected zombie-like creatures around every corner. In the midst of this chaos, real players are also hunting and if you are not careful, you may become their prey as well.
The new update brought a variety of different changes to the game. Initially, the game could only be played in solos or duos but has now introduced trios. Players will share the bounty between the team and other players who have fewer teammates or are solo will receive even greater rewards. 1.0 also brought a wide variety of female hunters to the game you can now recruit. As far as gameplay goes, A variety of balance changes to the bosses were implemented and weapon sway was removed from the game for all weapons. The Legends of the Bayou DLC comes with two new Legendary Hunter characters, two unique weapons, and 500 Blood Bonds.
Hunt: Showdown brings a unique experience that feels like a battle royale game in some aspects but really would have to be called something different entirely as it doesn’t share the same concepts most battle royales inherit. If you enjoy both PVP and PVE, Hunt blends the two very effortlessly. Hunt: Showdown will cost $39.99 and can be bundled with the DLC for $44.99 Legends of the Bayou can be purchased separately for $9.99 on Steam. Initially, the game was set to release on Xbox One but has since been delayed. No word yet when the new release date will be.
