Grab your revolver and throw on your duster, Hunt: Showdown’s official release date has been set for August 20, 2019. A release date for the PS4 is planned later this year. Hunt: Showdown was initially launched on Steam as an early access title on February 22, 2018. Recently, Hunt also had a Xbox Game Preview on May 29, 2019. With the interesting take on PVP and PVE gameplay, it’s certainly grabbed the attention and support of early access players and is looking to cause some discussion.
In Hunt: Showdown, Players are put into pairs versus four other teams and are thrown into the late 1800’s in an old southern America. Except here, the land is ravaged with demons and the undead. Players will trek through this land in order to find, kill and extract their bounty. The official sites synopsis explains, “You and your partner are members of a secret hunting society that tracks and kills creatures. The bounties are high, but so are the risks. The smallest mistake will cost you everything—your bounty, your gear, your life, and your very soul. Some hunt for wealth, some for power. Some hunt to protect others, some hunt for glory. You must track your quarry through a dark and treacherous world. Winner takes all. Fail, and go straight to hell.” As it states, in Hunt, if you die, you lose everything your character has obtained. Dangers from the undead NPCs are fierce but the other hunters are even more deadly. Stealth and the ability to sneak up on other hunters while they attempt to obtain bounties is key to victory.
Hunt: Showdown has consistently been releasing additional content that has done a sufficient job at keeping players engaged. Quickplay, a single player free for all game mode, allows players to search for loot and gear while attempting to be the last one standing. Winning gives them the ability to keep their hunter for the traditional game mode for free, along with all the weapons that were found disregarding weapon levels. The Assassin, a new boss players must combat in order to obtain a bounty was also recently released, giving a total of 3 bosses currently in the game.
Hunt: Showdown brings an interesting twist to the very popular Battle Royal genre. Players that are looking for something fresh and enjoy games with PVE elements should keep an eye out for this one. Hunt: Showdown will be released August 20th 2019 for Xbox One and PC. PS4 will see it sometime later this year. If you are itching to get your hand on the game now, Steam currently has the game on sale for $22.49. Happy Hunting.
