The wait is almost over for Hunt: Showdown’s official release, but the developers are still pushing out a number of surprises that are currently running on test servers and will officially be added to the game for the 6.0 launch update. The developers have been listening keenly to fan requests and have announced implementing playable female hunters and also a trios mode giving players the ability to play with up to two friends.
The first announcement was the implementation of female hunters to the game. Many asked why they were absent on places like Reddit and the developers have delivered showing off the models with their new teaser trailer “Bad as They Seem”. The Female hunters have a variety of appearances and give off a grungy badass cowgirl vibe. Not only will there be female hunters, but spooky female zombies have also been added giving a wider variety of undead you will run into.
Shortly after, another announcement and trailer were dropped by the developers. Hunt will also be incorporating trios into the game. This allows a player to team up with up to two friends hunt for bosses and share bounties while fending off other hunters. Currently, on the test servers, singles, duos, and trios are all intertwined. Players in Hunt never have a player count during a match so the amount of teams or players at the start of a game is always elusive. Now, playing single or duos will give you greater rewards since a team of 3 undoubtedly has the upper hand.
- A solo Hunter playing against Duos will receive +100 per bounty token.
- A solo Hunter playing against Trios will receive +200 per bounty token.
- A duo team playing against Trios will receive +75 per bounty token.
- Duos will not receive a bonus against solos.
- Teams of three will never receive a bonus.
Test server population is low compared to the early access game so this gameplay may change in the future when it is officially launched. Currently, you can always opt-out of playing against trios using a checkbox.
Hunt: Showdown will be released August 20th, 2019 for Xbox One and PC. PS4 will see it sometime later this year. For those interested, Steam currently has the game as an early access title. Happy Hunting.
