Last Friday, THQ Nordic held its second annual digital showcase. A total of fourteen games were featured at the showcase, from brand new titles to remastered editions of classic games.
To start off the show, the survival-horror game series Alone in the Dark was announced for a reboot. Alone in the Dark was first released in 1992 and opened the door for other horror franchises such as Resident Evil. Developers at Pieces Interactive tell a new story while staying true to the 90s game, describing it as a “love letter” to the original. Other returning franchises presented at the showcase were remastered editions of Destroy All Humans! 2 and Gothic 1, plus announced sequels for Jagged Alliance, Knights of Honor, and Outcast.
Space for Sale and Wreckreation are two unique games that may catch the attention of gamers who think outside the box. Space for Sale was developed by Mirage Game Studios and follows an astronaut whose responsibility is to sell homes to aliens. Three Fields Entertainment brings us Wreckreation, an arcade-style racing game that allows players to create custom tracks and race against friends. Another racing game to look forward to is Stuntfest: World Tour developed by Pow Wow Entertainment.
Those who are interested in real-time strategy games might find Tempest Rising or The Valiant intriguing; the former taking place in a modern-day war setting and the latter taking place during medieval times. If one wishes to venture through visually appealing landscapes while hunting wildlife, Way of the Hunter may be the game to play. All Elite Wrestling teamed up with THQ Nordic to create a professional wrestling game called AEW: Fight Forever. SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake serves as the follow-up for Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated and follows the beloved characters as they travel to different underwater worlds.
As the showcase came to an end, a teaser for an upcoming South Park game was briefly shown. No trailer or additional information, only the pixelated logo for South Park Digital Studios. The show concluded with one final note from the publisher thanking the audience for watching.
