Though the Bayonetta games have never done too well in terms of game sales, those who’ve played the hack and slash series have fallen in love with the games combat and presentation, as well as the title character herself, a sexy witch who uses her hair to summon demons. Its been three years since the release of the sequel on the Wii U, and fans have been awaiting any sign of a possible third installment. It seems the fans’ prayers have finally been answered, as series creator Hideki Kamiya may have confirmed Bayonetta 3 on Twitter.
When a follower on Twitter asked Kamiya if the game’s setting–the “World of Chaos”–has an official name, he told his follower to “Wait till Bayo3.”
Now, this isn’t exactly a direct confirmation that Bayonetta 3 is currently in development, but it is definitely an indicator that a third game is planned to be released at some point in the future. There’s also the suggestion that the story is planned to wrap up loose ends in the previous games’ plots, which could mean the game is already in pre-development.
This is the beacon of hope fans of the cult series were looking for, as there was previously some anxiety amongst fans whether or not a third game would even be made. Despite all the praise coming from critics and gamers, the fact that Bayonetta 2 was a console exclusive to the already failing Wii U doomed it to sales obscurity.
Even if it is just a tiny hint on Twitter, fans are no doubt filled with excitement. Now we just have to wait and see when Kamiya and Platinum Games decide to officially announce the project.
