Hi-Rez Announces New Studio, Hints at Possible New Title in the Works

Hi-Rez has had great success in the past and is staying strong in the present with great releases such as Smite, Paladins, and their most recent release Realm Royale. With this success, it seems Hi-Rez is ready to take a leap toward expanding the company and create even more games for fans and new players alike. Via a social media announcement, Hi-Rez has stated they have started a new studio, 1 of 3 planned, which is located in Brighton, UK. The Studio is called Red Beard Games, and although being newly announced, the studio seems to be hard at work already.

Along with the announcement regarding the studio, it was also hinted that a new title is underway by Red Beard Games. A small hint was said via a tweet about the developing title.

Not much is known about the title, but according to European general manager Veronique Lallier, it will be another online game similar to its competitive predecessors and will still feature cross-play and cross-progression as High-Rez is well known for supporting. If not familiar, cross-play allows players from different systems, including PC, play the same title together. Cross-Progression, on the other hand, will keep all progress made within the game no matter how often you may jump from different systems or computers. Via Red Beard Games Website, they describe themselves as such, “Red Beard Games are the newest game development studio owned by video game developer and publisher Hi-Rez Studios. We’re an ambitious team located in the center of bustling Brighton, UK. Our goal is to deliver amazing experiences tailored to the interests of large gaming communities.”

It’s exciting to see a company like Hi-Rez recognize their potential and begin to expand their horizons. With new creative minds from Red Beard Games and much more from their other studios in the future, great new titles are well on their way in the near future.

Nathan Arquiette: Mom and Dad would never buy me a gaming console growing up, so I bought my own Dreamcast when I was 10 years old. Ever since then my passion for gaming went wild. Why watch a movie or read a book when you can take part in the plot playing a game was my philosophy. "Video games rot your brain" but I had a 10th grade reading level in the 6th grade all thanks to RPG's. Talking and writing about games is something I will never get tired of.
