The CEO Fighting Game Championships have wrapped for 2019, and the tournament results are in for all the major events. Run by Alex Jebailey, CEO is legendary for being one of the more fun tournaments to tune into, with an energetic and personality-fueled pro-wrestling vibe.
This year’s tournament in Daytona, Florida is one of the biggest for multiple fighting games and is a Premier event on the Capcom Pro Tour and Masters event on the Tekken World Tour. The Pro Kompetition also brought Mortal Kombat 11 to CEO, and the Dead or Alive 6 World Tour had an event this weekend as well.
Entries were huge for all the events, but Nintendo’s Super Smash Bro. Ultimate saw the most total at CEO this year at over 1,000 entrants. CEO also held events for Dragon Ball FighterZ, Soul Calibur VI, Samurai Shodown, and others. The ArcRevo World Tour held CEO events with several games.
In Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Red Bull’s “Bonchan” made it through Grand Finals to take the top spot using Karin and his signature Sagat. Bonchan won over Fudoh’s “Fujimura,” complete monster Ibuki player who seems to always play optimally. CyGames’s Daigo Umehara placed in the top 8 using a tournament-legal Hit Box controller, and sole American and Marvel player “DualKevin” put on great performance, following up on his appearance in the Street Fighter League.

Capcom also announced the dates for the the Capcom Cup, which will take place December 13th through 15th in Los Angeles. Street Fighter League will coincide with the Capcom Cup dates.
CEO’s Tekken 7 Masters event saw Grand Finals between two of Rox Dragon’s powerhouse players: “Knee” and “Chanel.” Knee, who played Steve, Geese, and Brian won over his team mate, who played Alisa, Julia, and Eliza. Knee looked like he activated the power of the Time Stone when he used Geese’s Rage Art at the literal last second to close out his match against JDCR, who took third, earning him the nickname “Thanos.”

Mortal Kombat 11‘s Pro Kompetition Event was absolutely stacked with talented players, and Echo Fox’s “SonicFox” won Grand Finals over GRV’s “Dragon” at this year’s CEO. SonixFox played Cassie Cage and Jacqui, and Dragon played new roster addition Cetrion, a zoning-heavy character.
Mortal Kombat’s event got a little heated too, with rival players “Scar” and “Daddy” going a little beyond popping-off at the end of their match. Fighting games can create feelings.

In Dragon Ball FighterZ, CAG’s “Go1” won Grand Finals over his team mate “Fenrich” with his Bardock, Goku, Kid Goku team. Fenrich ran his Bardock, Cell, Vegeta team. Top 8 also included CEO Mortal Kombat 11 Grand Finals champion SonixFox in fourth place, and Street Fighter legends “Dogura” and “Kazunoko” making Top 8. The video footage is available here.
In the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event, Panda Global’s “Marss” playing Zero Suit Samus and Captain Falcon was defeated by EchoFox’s “MKLeo,” who plays Joker. His win also earned him a special shoutout from Team Liquid’s Melee god Hungrybox.

For Soul Calibur VI, “Bluegod” and his Azwel beat out AXL’s “RichSticks,” who played Maxi. The video footage from the CEO 2019 stream is available on YouTube here.
For Dead or Alive 6, UGS’s “XCaliburBladez” playing Phase 4 and Eliot took Grand Finals against Co-D’s “H00DLeSs,” who mains Rig. Dead or Alive 6 will not be appearing at EVO 2019 this August, due to core values.
In the ArcRevo events, Dramatik’s “RedBlade” (Wagner, Akatsuki) won Under Night In-Birth EXE Late[st] over CAG’s “Go1” (Phonon, Gordeau). The Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 winner was “LostSoul,” sponsored by multi-game veteran Justin Wong. LostSoul, who plays Elphet, took the title over “Hotashi,” who plays the same character.
Finally for newly released Samurai Shodown, Victrix’s Justin Wong won Grand Finals playing Tam Tam, beating sponsor-mate Cory Bell who played Hanzo, Tam Tam, Galford, and Yoshitora. Justin Wong gave Cory Bell his first place prize, a Victrix custom fight stick.
Samurai Shodown is enjoying a pretty positive reception and will be a major event title at EVO 2019.
