Halo Infinite’s Upcoming Lone Wolves Season 2 Features Fresh Maps, Game modes and More

Developer 343 on Friday released a video preview of new multiplayer maps as a part of its Halo Infinite season 2 launch on May 3. The season known as Lone Wolves will add a new battle pass system, new maps and additional modes. With about 2 more weeks to go, the maps- Catalyst and Breaker were given a closer look via a video preview, as well as a Q&A on the official Halo Waypoint website.

Season 2 was described in depth last month as a part of a Blogspot presenting an update of new content and features to Halo Infinite. Weathered arena map Catalyst and sand-blasted Big Team Battle map Breaker were revealed through concept art, but now fans have the opportunity to understand more of what is in store. These maps are meant to stand out from the current selection players already have, providing exciting and fresh gameplay.

Catalyst is a symmetrical arena map built out of an abandoned forerunner edifice, reminiscent of classic Halo with its metallic sheen and glowing blue bridges. Waterfalls pour down around suspended catwalks, overgrown cathedral walls and a light bridge connecting the sides of the map together. According to Multiplayer Level Designer Tyler Ensrude, Catalyst indeed takes DNA from Coliseum from Halo 5, Haven vibes from Halo 4, and the biggest influence from Epitaph from Halo 3

Breaker is a BTB map set in a Banished shipbreaking yard that has plenty of room for destruction, divided by a plasma cutting beam in the middle. This dynamic element presents opportunities as well as challenges in gameplay. Territorial ownership will be a key to success, and the central feature of the map is the middle of it. Here, there are vehicle runs over a death pit and sightlines and center lane to offer risk and reward over key objectives when it comes to sniper battles.

Both maps started out as Capture the Flag maps but extended to other modes, which will be released in season 2. The new modes include a free-for-all elimination called Last Spartan Standing, Land Grab and the updated return of King of the Hill. Existing modes will also be playable on Catalyst and Breaker.

Among the new maps and modes, the Lone Wolves season will feature new story elements and new armor and cosmetics. The theme embodies the fact that Lone Wolf Spartans are hunters, trackers and resourceful improvisers, operating deep in enemy territory without resupply or support. While they are fierce, rugged and prefer to work alone, they are still loyal to their Spartan pack. Season 2’s story will provide more about Spartan Sigrid Eklund and Hieu Dinh through cinematics, story-themed events, Battle Pass items and more. Not all of the content will be completely tied to the theme, however.

It was also noted in March that a cooperative campaign and level-editor Forge mode will arrive at a later date. Co-op may arrive sometime during season 2, while Forge is set for season 3.
