Halo Infinite fans are in the midst of an “information drought” as Microsoft has been rather coy about the upcoming game for Xbox Series X. This is probably why a round of “leaks” took off on Reddit recently, getting the attention of the community manager. The original poster came out to say they were fake, but not before getting the community in a frenzy.
A Reddit user by the name of TestTrak created a thread titled “A Series of Leaks I have Gathered (no story leaks)” spilling allegedly details about Halo Infinite on next-gen. Claims like the game being an “open-world shooter” with “four large open-world segments” were regarded as “too good to be true” by commenters like Metatermin8r. Others like SilentPizzaKiller noted their desire to believe these “leaks” and even began asking questions to TestTrak to gain more information. Eventually, the user contacted a 343 employee to come clean about the hoax, and nix any suspicion about a 343 “snitch.” John Junyszek, Community Manager at 343 Industries, took to Twitter to warn fans about believing unconfirmed rumors and speculation.
Since today’s @RedditHalo ‘leak’ admitted to being fake, please remember to only trust messaging from official @Halo channels. We’re close, just hang in there 🤘 pic.twitter.com/yeMPwdx7LW

Junyszek asks fans for patience, and assures that new information on the game will be arriving soon! Soon includes the Xbox Series X July 20/20 event, as 343 has confirmed Halo Infinite will be apart of the showcase. The event is meant to be a digital E3 replacement after the expo was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At last year’s E3, Microsoft announced Halo Infinite while unveiling the games first trailer. They’ve been mostly tight-lipped since then, and which has only increased anticipation for the upcoming July event.
