Hades Coming To Steam Early Access In December

Today, users at resetera discovered new Steam page that was published today for Hades, a rouge-like dungeon crawler from Supergiant Games, the developers of Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre. The page indicates that Hades will release on Steam on December 10. Hades was originally announced at The Game Awards last year and it was available in Early Access form through the Epic Games Store. The Steam page indicates that: “When Hades launches in Steam Early Access, it’ll already be a big feature-rich game, filled with thrilling action, dozens of colorful characters, and the rich worldbuilding Supergiant is known for. We designed it for Early Access from the ground up, so you could help make it even better by our v1.0 launch in the second half of 2020.”

Supergiant Games has released a new update for Hades roughly once every eight weeks. So far, six updates have been released for the game since January 2019. Each update comes with a new god that provides new abilities and weapons that players can choose from. January’s The Chaos Update brought Primordial Chaos and their boons or abilities you can choose from. A new look for the main character was also added as well as the Infernal Contract which will provide a greater challenge. The Good Times Update brought in Dionysus and the Adamant Rail, a new weapon. You could also alter chamber rewards with Fated Authority.

The Murder Death Kill Update added Thanatos and the furies, Alecto and Tisiphone. A new ability called Wrath of the Gods was also added. The Beefy Update added a new area, Eylsium into the game. The update also added in King Theseus and the Minotaur as adversaries and a new and improved version of Dash. The High Speed Update brought in Hermes and two new enemies, the Soul Catcher and Flame Wheels. New Chambers were also added to Elysium. The latest update is called The Big Bad Update. This update added another area, the Styx, gateway to the underworld for players to battle their way out as well as new foes, the Satyr Cultists and Gigantic Vermin. The Purging Pool was also added which provides a way to sell unwanted boons.

With Hades, Supergaint’s goal “was to see if we could create something great in partnership with our community — a game that was true to our values about design, worldbuilding, and storytelling, and could naturally evolve based on the feedback we’d get along the way. Every aspect of the game, from its modular structure to its approach to narrative, flow from this idea.” When Hades launches on Steam on December 10, there will be 4 biomes, plus the main hub, 7 boss fights, 8 Olympians, 6 main weapons, 25 different foes, 28 story characters, and 20+ music tracks.
