Season 2 of H1Z1 has just gotten underway and brings a new Battle Pass along with PlayStation exclusives. H1Z1, PUBG, and DayZ early access builds were no doubt games ahead of the worldwide battle royale trend. But with Fortnite and Call of Duty Blackops 4’s Blackout dominating the market, games like H1Z1 have had to expand its scope. Daybreak Game Company has certainly attempted to do so by bringing their title to the PlayStation 4, developing seasons, and creating unique player cosmetics.
Season 2’s Battle Pass includes 75 tiers of rewards for Premium purchasers. PlayStation 4 players will again have their own exclusives, having their own free lines of rewards in the Battle Pass that will automatically unlock upon login. These include more emotes, costumes, gun skins, backpacks, and vehicle skins. As usual, game leaderboards will be visible to players so they can boast ultimate bragging rights in front of friends or strangers. The Battle Pass costs 750 Crowns in-game.
Along with the Season 2 launch, H1Z1 is bringing a new update that will include some bug fixes and ten new Daily Challenges. Firstly, all leaderboards will be reset. This is to give the season a fresh start, but also to fix a bug where some players’ leaderboard statistics would appear incorrectly. The combat shotgun’s rarity has been nailed down to purple and a general emote animation was also fixed. Most of the fixes in the update address leaderboards, but Daybreak Game Company provides a site for the reporting of any bugs.
H1Z1 claims a player base of around 14 million players and is certainly adding more seasonal and event content to compete in the market. Daybreak Game Company claims that their game, H1Z1, is “the battle royale game that started it all.” While the battle royale industry is tough to stay relevant in, H1Z1’s vehicles, apocalyptic environment, and streaming popularity have kept a solid number of players intact on the servers.
H1Z1 is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC. Season 2 will run through January 22, 2019.
