Gundam is a franchise in which humans pilot giant mecha and wage war against each other in epic robotic combat, featuring numerous explosions and sword fights. And during the Summer Games Fest of 2026, Bandai Namco announced that a new Gundam game was in development, and this one is drastically different from past Gundam games, as it features third-person high-speed combat where you, the player, pilot your own fully customizable mech and go to battle. And Bandai just dropped a gameplay walkthrough for Gundam Dead Orbit, showcasing combat and customization. Gundam Rogue Orbit will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on March 5, 2027.
Gundam Dead Orbit is the newest game in the series by Bandai Namco, a high-mobility action game that delivers a bold new take on Gundam, blending a fast-paced, cinematic story with intense, hard-hitting combat in an all-new universe. And recently, Bandai dropped a 3-minute gameplay walkthrough showcasing combat, customization, and the planet Mars, where you will pilot your Gundam and fight for humanity. In the gameplay walkthrough, we got a good look at the combat, as you will be piloting a fully mobile Gundam with high mobility and combat capabilities, and it’s fully customizable in terms of armor, weapons, and color. In the trailer, they showed off a boss fight where you have to attack, dodge, and overall overwhelm the boss. And the Gundam will have an AP mode allowing for a limited enhancement that builds up to unleash a giant blast, dealing an insane amount of damage.
Overall, Gundam Dead Orbit is shaping up to be a fun time; its movement and combat alone showcase a fully Gundam experience. If you’re a fan of the franchise or looking for a way in, this is your best opportunity, as it’s a standalone story in the universe and lets the player experience everything the IP has to offer. Gundam Rogue Orbit will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on March 5, 2027. Pre-orders are open now.
