Gran Turismo Sport Delayed Till 2017

Today in a Playstation Blog Kazunori Yamauchi, founder of Polyphony Digital and creator of Gran Turismo, announced the decision has been made to delay Gran Turismo Sport until 2017 instead of the original November release date.

“As we approach our planned release date in November, we realize we need more time to perfect GT Sport, which we’ve already dedicated so much effort towards since announcing the title. We do not want to compromise the experience in any way. While we cannot confirm a new release date at this time, we are more committed than ever to making GT Sport the best Gran Turismo game to date”.

Despite their choice in May to cancel the open beta in order to focus on the production deadline, Polyphony Digital felt as though they needed even more time perfecting the game. Even noting in the blog at how humble they feel with the overall support the game has received from the community. There has been nothing noted on whether or not there will be a changes with beta decision. This shouldn’t come as a shock as Kazunori mentions that,

From the start this title has been one of our most ambitious undertakings by using the latest technologies, such as physics-based rendering and sound simulations, and Scapes photo mode. In combining these features with a new Sport mode, we are offering a competitive gaming experience to truly reinvent what it means to be a racing game.

Despite the delays the game is still scheduled to make its rounds at upcoming events as it has already been seen at E3 earlier this year. Sony has a September 7th playstation event where it is rumored they will reveal the Playstation NEO and the Playstation 4 Slim.

Gran Turismo Sport will be a Playstation 4 exclusive and is expected to support Playstation VR.
