Godfall Will Not Include Microtransactions

One of the first games revealed for the PlayStation 5 at the 2019 Game Awards Godfall revealed that it wouldn’t have a specific feature of controversy in the gaming industry. According to Godfall Technical Producer Richard Heyne in a video interview with Arekkz GamingGodfall will not include microtransactions as a part of the player experience. Heyne stated that “We don’t consider the game as a service,” revealing that players will not have to or be able to pay for various features, items, or character skins in order to enhance their enjoyment of the game.

Aside from revealing that the game won’t have microtransactions, Heyne also revealed more information about the game, including that the game features a solo campaign that players can enjoy. During the solo campaign, players will be able to travel through the various elemental planes as they ascend an object known as the Skybreaker Monolith, with the intended goal being to defeat the mad god Macros. Other than that, Heyne also revealed that the game will have plenty of post-game content for players to enjoy once they have completed the solo campaign. In the interview, Reyne revealed that “…we are planning that there is plenty of content for the player to dig into once [main villain] Macros is defeated. Once you’ve completed the campaign, you will have the ability to go back to these realms and explore them in new ways, to experience new encounters, new challenges.”

Other than information about the campaign, the interview also reveals how loot will function in the game. Heyne has stated that loot is “…a mix.” Loot will be dropped by random enemies or given to players as a reward for completing key sections of a campaign as well as story missions, hunt missions, and side missions. In order to receive Valorplates, players will have to use various rewards from completing story missions and campaign sections in order to unlock specific Valorplates.

Godfall will be releasing for PlayStation 5 and PC and will release some time in late 2020.
